Be Nutritious
"Omega 3 fatty acids found in oily fish such as salmon, sardines,
tuna and mackerel prevent heart disease and stroke, premature births
and even reverse the effects of cystic fibrosis."
British researchers claimed that omega-3 is critical for healthy development
and general function, and may help in treating children with dyslexia
and behavioral difficulties. Onega-3 fatty acids may slow down the enzymes
that destroy cartilage in arthritic joints.
A diet high in certain nuts (such as walnuts) and plants such as soybeans
and dark-green leafy vegetables, flaxseed and canola oils contain the
shorter-chain alphalinolenic acid (ALA). Also a variety of oily fish
at least twice a week, preferably from younger fish to negate toxic
leaching, will increase weekly doses of essential omegas.
Most western diets are too high in omega-6 fatty acids in the form
of oils such as sunflower that can undermine Omeg-3's benefits.
